If you are considering Custom Window Decals for you car or truck applying them correctly is extremely important. There are many factors to consider before you apply the decal to your window if it is to be done correctly, the first time.

Always keep in mind that glass is an extremely smooth and is affected by current temperature, installation can be quite tricky. Manufacture recommendation for graphics installed on glass not be applied when the air surface temperature is less than 40 degrees Fahrenheit. If the graphic is applied during temperatures near the 40 degrees Fahrenheit, the adhesion on the sticker will not stick properly.

The first step when applying a custom window decal is to prepare the glass for the decal application. Thoroughly cleaning the complete area with an isopropyl alcohol is the best product to ensure that the area is cleaned correctly and that the life of the adhesion will last longer.

Once you have mapped out the area where you will be applying the graphic and the area is cleaned, apply the graphic to the window with masking tape at the corners of the sticker. Dry application is recommended by most window graphic manufactures, wet application may cause small water bubbles underneath the graphic during the application process.

Begin at the top middle of the graphic and slowly peel back the backing of the graphic. Once you are ready to begin, start by using a low-friction sleeve on the plastic applicator of the squeegee to help remove bubbles and to prevent scratching the graphic during the application process. Slowly maneuvering the squeegee in a continuous back and forth gentle motion double checking with each stroke that air has not been trapped underneath the graphic will allow for mistakes to be corrected immediately.

When the Car graphic has been applied completely on the window, double check the edges and seams if any for gaps to prevent water and dirt from entering underneath the graphic. By applying an edge sealer to the graphic after application will prevent the edges from turning up and can minimalize problems in the future.

After this process you can stand back and take a long look at the end result of your Car Window Decals that you carefully chose and installed for your vehicle. Knowing that you accomplished the task of installing the graphics on your own vehicle you can be proud of your hard work.

Now that you have spent your hard earned money on decals or a Car Graphic for your vehicle, taking care to ensure that the graphic is properly taken care of is important to the longevity of the product. There are a few things to consider if you intend on keeping your graphic in new condition. Here are a few great ideas to help you maintain your Car Graphic.

Always keep in mind that the decal is merely a vinyl sticker made out of a product that if not maintained properly has the potential to be ruined. Although paint is a more durable product, a graphic should be cared for in a similar manner as you would care for a new paint job.

Extreme weather conditions and road travel are always a concern for your vehicle. Freezing weather, acid rain, bugs hitting your car while driving at high speeds, road debris and extreme heat are all factors that can lead to the breaking down of this 4/1000 thick piece of plastic. Not to mention the harsh detergents that are commonly used when washing your vehicle. Keeping the graphic in great condition will require care on your part as the owner to ensure that products applied to the vehicle are vinyl safe. All products will contain specific product information on the label telling you what products are not safe to use on your graphic.

To ensure the best possible outcome for your car graphic make sure to use soft cloths and cleaners that are not abrasive so that the sticker does not become scratched during the cleaning process. If there comes the time when a high pressure washer is needed to remove dirt and scum from your vehicle, do NOT aim the air nozzle close or directly at the graphic. Remember this one rule of thumb, if it can hurt your paint or skin, it can hurt your decal as well.

If you intend on caring for your graphic over the time period that you own the vehicle, proper maintenance is crucial to the longevity of the product. Before purchasing cleaning products to use on your vehicle, be sure to pay close attention to the product ingredients listed on the label and refrain from using abrasive cloths or scrubbers to clean your car. Keeping these few tips in mind every time you wash your vehicle will help keep your Car Graphic looking brand new.

If you are looking to change the appearance of your vehicle installing car decals is an inexpensive way of doing so. Its even cheaper if you are able to install them your self. If you are up for the challenge here are some simple steps that will help accomplish installing the car graphics yourself.

Before you begin here are a list of a few items and tools you will need before you start installing car decals:

Car Decals
Measuring Tape
Masking Tape
Clean Soft Cloth
Exacto Knife
Plastic Squeegee

Installing Car Decals Will Transform Your Ride

Step #1

Do your research online and find the car decal that will best suit your vehicle and your personal taste. Once you pick out your graphics you will need to measure the area on your vehicle where you will be installing the graphics. Make sure you take your time and measure exactly and you will be glad you did. Next order your car decals online or find a local graphic sign shop in your town.

Step#2
Once you have in your possession the proper sized car graphics you are ready to begin. So get out side and wash that vehicle until it is spotless. The cleaner your car is the better the graphics will stick. Once your car is completely dry wipe the area, that the car decals will be installed on, with your soft cloth.

Step#3
You are now ready to start installing car decals. Place the graphic into the desired position. If the car graphics that you are installing are real long ask a friend to help you. Next stick the decal in place with a small piece of your masking tape, this will allow you to be able to adjust the graphic until it is properly centered. Now run your masking tape across the top edge of the graphic. This will keep things aligned when you adhere the graphics to the vehicles surface.

Step#4
You will notice that your car decal has transfer tape on the top and bottom side. Start with the top edge and begin peeling of the bottom sided transfer tape smoothing out the decal as you work your way down. Use your plastic squeegee to help you work the bubbles and wrinkles out. Work your way down until you have completely removed the bottom side transfer tape.

Step#5
If your car graphic has expanded over any door openings you can take your exacto knife and gently cut the graphic where the gap for the opening is. Now take your squeegee and gently press the graphic into the gap so it will adhere all the way to the edge. Next begin rubbing a soft cloth over the graphic to ensure that there are no air bubbles.

Step#6
Now that the decal is adhered in placed remove the masking tape and the top layer transfer tape. Go slow with this step to make sure you do not lift the decal or this will cause wrinkles. Now breathe a sigh of relief and step back and take a look at your transformed car! Pat yourself on the back for a job well done! Make sure you do not wash your car for the next few days and always had wash. This will prolong the life of you car decals. Hope you found this information to be valuable. Enjoy installing car decals and your new ride.
